I've been spending a lot of time working lately with different frits I've been hoarding in my studio. For those of you who don't know what frit is, it's tiny pieces of colored glass that beadmakers roll molten beads in to create beautiful designs on their beads. This large heart shaped focal was made on a base of clear, rolled in silver foil and then rolled in frit that contains a beautiful palette of blues. I used my favorite frit, River Dance, from Val Cox. Then the whole thing was cased in clear so that the light shines through the bead and really makes it sparkle.
This is a large focal measuring 32mm x 40mm and the hole runs side to side. I made it on a 3/32" mandrel so that it will fit onto the magnetic cables I also have for sale in my findings section. I will include one for free with this bead.
As with all of my beads, this heart was kiln annealed to make it strong and durable.
